Not all antibodies are created equal. New generation monoclonal antibodies, especially rabbit monoclonals, exhibit much higher affinity properties than older monoclonal antibodies generated in mice. Knowing which antibodies to select for a given antigen (along with the proper titer and pretreatment of tissue) will allow the laboratory to use optimal dilutions of antibody for effective cost-containment. AP’s technologists and pathologists have performed rigorous IHC validation procedures to determine the proper working conditions for over 200 commercially-available antibodies for IHC testing.
